Avnet inks distribution deal for SupplyFrame desktop search tool

Avnet Electronics Marketing and SupplyFrame have partnered to bring the SupplyFrame GoPart desktop search tool free of charge to customers in the market for electronic components.

According to the companies, the new industry vertical search engine (VSE) allows users to pull up product data from most Windows applications. Avnet is the exclusive partner for the launch of SupplyFrame GoPart. Financial terms of the distribution deal were not disclosed.

SupplyFrame said its GoPart was designed to help speed design time by providing an instant 360-degree view of an electronic component. The tool helps designers find component information from inside such applications as EDA, MRP, MS Excel, MS Outlook or a browser. In addition to providing the part information needed, it also advises users on product alternatives, price estimates and intelligence on purchasing. GoPart also allows users to check Avnet's available inventory.

"SupplyFrame is built on the idea that decision makers need facts quickly and without an agenda - not a page full of Web links or sales pitches," Steve Flagg, founder and CEO of SupplyFrame, said in a statement.

This is just the latest in a bevy of distribution deals electronics supply chain giant Avnet has sealed in recent weeks. Earlier this month, the CAO Group chose Avnet Electronics Marketing to distribute its Dynasty family of high-brightness LED devices, as well as its entire line of solid state illumination products and system-level solutions. Shortly following the CAO deal, Avnet expanded its franchise agreement with Amphenol. And in January, Avnet released a development kit it created with Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) and Micron Technology based on ADI's Blackfin processor and Micron's CMOS image sensor.
