The Opamp

An operational amplifier, usually referred to as an Opamp for brevity, is a DC-coupled high-gain electronic voltage amplifier with differential inputs and, usually, a single output. Many standard IC Opamps cost only a few cents in moderate production volume, but integrated or discrete amplifiers with non-standard specifications may cost over $100 US in small quantities.
